Man; you gotta test. i like your initial set up but you gotta test & tune. Your combo is gonna work well when u dial it in but it will take some work.
Hi gmc, before I answer that question what weights are you now using? whats your 60ft time and your 660ft time? great to see another ty'er on the tar, I love the asphalt!! thanx

I ran a siilar set up.Get rid of that silver spring and get a yami green. What brand helix is that?I had 53 gram base weights loaded up close to 68 grams I believe with a 54-46 dalton helix.R you going to run open carbs?
you can definatley gear down for 1/8 mile.we ran a 01 srx a few times at the track which didn't mess with it much because was working on my 4stroker.But we ran 22-38 gearing and it would run out of gear about 50 ft before the 1/4 mile and would over rev but would run through the traps at 117mph.The srx's with that angle helix like lot's ot tip weight and center.I ran 1 short allen screw in the heel.Invest in some tungstoon washers.pm me if you want some more tips. There some stuff i would rather not post.

probally "x' weights. I have used h/c's on the tar and 8bu's, 89a10's all will work. I actually liked a weight a little less aggressive to keep from shocking the clutchs and suspension, to get the sled to roll out well and produce a good 60'.
On the tar its all about the suspension. What kind of 60' times? 660' times?
You can get into the low 6.4-6.2 with a srx around 110-115mph. takes alot of tuning but they will run hard when right.
like ryan said take off the airbox completely, no filters needed, its clean, thats why I love the tar. warm, clean and a whole heck of alot of fun, not too mention your running on timers from the start and timed thru out the run to the 1320' if going 1/4.

one thing comes to mind with your 60ft time, on your rear suspension, you want to get as much of the track on the ground as possible, get it so the drivers are only about 3/8-7/16" off the ground, you get it this way by loosening up the shocks and tightening the limiter straps. you also getit level by adding shims to the bottom of the trnasfer rods, this pulls the back down evenly. A easy test is to lay a garage light on one side of the sled on floor, then go to opposite side and lay your cheek on floor, youll soon be able to see where the light comes thru under the non level section of track. by getting the track as level as possible with as much touching the track the sled will hook better, flatter and just roll forward. You can easily get into the 1.38-1.4 60 ft times with the stock proaction skid all SETUP, I have done it many, many times.

yes its the stock suspenion a guy modified to 10 ''...its all been lowered, straps tight and thick shims on rods.......the whole track sits level......got 11 '' prostock shocks on front.........lifts 2-3 inches if that and goes straight...never had a hooking prob..

Get rpm,s & clutch temps right & it should be a piece of cake.
