My 2002 Viper will not idle without the choke being partially on.
I siphoned as much old gas as I could and put in new with some seafoam.
She runs great once you get going, but when you slow down its like it is starved for gas, bogging down.
I have't cleaned the power valves in a couple of years, could that be the cause?
Any help would be appreciated!

you're power valves aren't what's causing this, but you will want to clean and adjust them anyway, if you haven't done it in a while. its your pilot circuit that's causing the idle issue. you need to pull the carbs off, take out the pilot jets and fuel screws and clean out the pilot jets and pilot circuit, w/carb cleaner and compressed air. restore the fuel screws, to there original stock setting of 1-7/8 turns out from lightly seated. the reason you need the choke on partially to keep it idling, is because the pilot jets/pilot circuit (which is the circuit for idling and up to 1/4 throttle) aren't suppling the engine w/enough fuel (cause of fuel gummage etc in the jets), and so by pulling on the choke, you're opening the valves on the starter circuit, and that opens up another passage, where more fuel is dumped in. if you look in the carb (the side that faces the engine), you will see a larger hole on the side of the venturi. that's the choke/starter circuit. the reason your sled is fine after the 1/4 throttle, is because now you are mainly running on the needle/nozzle/main circuit of the carb, and not so much the pilot, even tho the pilot flows fuel at all times.

That took care of it, runs like a dream again! Thanks for a point in the right direction.
