hey guys i was cleaning up my sled in the garage last night and noticed the hyfax that only have 75 miles on them are wearing real fast at the bend in the rail.i rode in marginal snow for those miles but so did my son and friends and theres look fine.the sled has a 1 inch track with 1.08 studs that are new.the front straps have about 10-12 mm threads showing.any ideas on why they wear so fast?

Check your track tension....their should only be about a 1" gap at the center of your track below the bottom of the high fax. If it is wearing at the bend you might have the tension too tight.

slides do wear fast at first then come to a stop,,do check track defletion/and or limiter straps up front.

You need to pull your limiters up more. I can't remember exactly but I ran mine with 1 1/4" of thread showing. And check track tension 1 to 1 1/2" free hanging. People will argue this is too loose but I get around 2000 miles out of the black hyfax and it does not ratchet. Never had any luck with the colored.

I run every bit of 2000 miles specifially 2,450 someing last winter on a standard pair of hyfax. I run about 15 pounds pull at 2" gap. I also use a counter sink taper to bore out the bottom of the rails. Do not drill through but countersink. This allows ice to build and lube when margenal snow happens, ie, bridge crossing, parking lots ect.

Guys could you tell me why one side of my hyfax is wearing more than the other? The right side is almost worn through and the left side is half way gone. I checked the deflection today and found the right side was alot looser than the left side. Could that be the reason why or would it be something else?

yep that could be, also if you have a twisted w arm from welding it back together that can be an issue. Make sure your track is evenly space on the sides from front to back if this is ok then it is track tension and where you ride you might put one side of the machine on the road and the other on the trail....my .02 Cents

i heard alot about breaking in hyfax , after installing get them hot to the point you can almost smell them melting then a rapid cool down in powder , heat them up again and cool down the same and do it a third time then they are supposed to be good to go. seems to work on my sled. put them on and just run then amd there gone in less than 500 miles. did this (per the guy at the yam dealer) and get great milage out of them . and like danger dog said i stay away from the color ones , i run just the black one , they for some reason seem to get the best life outta them.

Adjusted the track yesterday and ran 140 miles today and everthing seems ok. One side is worn more than the other I will just change them out at the end of the year for new black hyfaxs since I have the red ones on there. A arm was never welded but thanks for the info.

Now the post comes up! Just last week I had blue sliders put on my 2000 SRX. I paid $73.00 to have it done, is that a good price?
