As I understand it, the 2001 SRX had the best carb jetting, yeah? So I want to change my 2000 SRX to the 2001 setup. If I change the jets, is there anything else that I should be doing? I don't want to blow the engine and find out later that I only did half of a job.

simple....
check the tech section for STOCK settings(jetting) and have at,all that needs to be done,,always always premium fuel and BR9ECS plugs!!!

'98's and '99 srx's had the mag cylinder richer than the '00-'02 srx's, which had the pto cylinder richer. if you have a '00 srx, you would be fine to run the '01 main jet specs. keep the 42.5 pilots in your '00 tho. don't drop to the 40 pilots like the '01's had.

Ok then. Just to state the obvious, all I need to do is swap jets and go, right?

yep just the main jets that is. you can switch to 150 pto and 148.8 center/mag....which is stock '01 specs or you could run 148.8 pto and 147.5 center/mag, which would be a 1/2 jet size richer on each cylinder, than what the stock '00 jetting is.
