wow i just tried to get the dipstick out of the chaincase on my srx!with pipes in place,that has got to be one of the dumbest -most piss you off type of things ive ever seen on a sled!what were they thinking?

To do it the right way you pull the pipes off, they are assuming you are changing the oil or something like that when you check it.
I'd take a dipstick that is hard to get out without pipe removal over a crappy engine design any day of the week, because i know how much i check my chain case oil level, i change the oil check and done with it till spring.
it takes all of about 5 minutes and a vice grips to get the pipes off.

You think thats bad wait till you try to replace your fuel filter.I ran into that same thing yesterday the only way to gain acess is to remove the top pipe That way you can change your oil and getting the funnel down there wont be making a mess in your belly pan!

yea I won't miss that stuff. Sold my SRX in April. I may miss the speed though! Just a maintenance PITA!!!
Did some trimming, lets try and keep this a little more friendly.
