Changing tunnel height

Last night I moved my tunnel to the lowest hole on the bracket in the rear (to make tunnel sit as high as it can), of the three that are there, it was in the middle hole before. Half way up the foot rail on each side there is a lower setting for the top end of the suspension. The suspension was in the upper hole,so I moved it to the lower hole, that seemed like where it should be if using the high setting for the tunnel in the back. Just wondering if that is correct? I didn't try to see if it would line up in the back with the suspension in the higher hole. It sure did loosen up my track tension quite a bit, I ended up tightening it about two turns, will start there and see if it ratchets or not. Anyway, just wondering if this sounds correct to you guys.
 
03 Mtn Viper's had only 2 holes at the rear and center. Do you have aftermarket drop brackets? Can you post a pic?
 
you did it correctly. as suspension geometry goes, all mounting points need to move proportionately, thats why the optional holes are there both in the tunnel and the drop brackets.
 
Thanks Snowdad, I wanted to make sure.

Ding: Picked it up from dealer that way. It has a higher and lower hole about half way down the foot rails on each side that holds the top of the suspension. At the back of the tunnel there is a drop bracket on each side that has three holes about 3/4-1" apart. The drop bracket also has a fourth hole that is in line with the lowest hole (highest tunnel setting) that sits towards the rear of the sled from the line of the first three. It doesn't look like the fourth hole can be used, to me. I always thought this was a stock set-up?? Maybe tomorrow I can swing by and take a couple of pics after work.

Interesting, my '03 has only 2 holes. I think I may have been shorted a hole or 2. Story of my life :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:
 
AK: Forgot you have an extension for your 151" and it wouldn't be the same.

Ding: I think I may have the answer. Is yours already in the lowest hole? You can't see the third upper hole when it is in the bottom one.

I noticed tonight when I went to take pics that something isn't right. I was looking at the tunnel height and it didn't look like it was sitting as high as it should be. I lifted up on the back of the sled and it moved up about 4-6 inches. Push back down, it drops down the same amount and stays. It's like the shock isn't pushing the rear back up where it should be. So, either I didn't mount it the way it should be (the front of the suspension on mine is in the same position as AK's), or when I made the changes it took tension off the shock? Maybe I now need to tighten it, does anyone know? The transfer rods also change position back and forth and stay when I lift up or push down the back.

With no one on the sled there should be no lower gar on the control rod You have almost all of the gap there. If it isn't binding then it needs more spring. The spring sets the ride height. Maxdlx
 
Gotcha, so just add tension to spring until I can sit on it and transfer rods have no gap? I assume it is a fine line, too much tension and the track would be forced down in powder and make me trench? Must have taken a lot of tension off of it when I moved the tunnel and front of suspension.
