I bought a sled hitch for my SRX (stop laughing) and I need some help mounting it. Anyone have a hitch on the SRX that they can take a picture of?
I have to snowmobile into my camp where we ice fish and the only way to get my stuff in is pull it in a sled.
I got the hitch from Royal Distributing.

I had a hitch on my 87 mustang 5.0. I towed the 2 place jet ski trailer all the time. Had two 2 person polaris PWC's on it wherever I towed it, and STILL was able to blow away a 93+ z28 stick camaro from a stoplight drag with 1200 lbs of jet skis in tow. Now that was funny.
I am pimpin my venture out as well s fortuna.

hitches.......I hate hitches.....
he said HITCH not b...... Just kidding. I am no help.
I've mounted a number of different style hitches on sleds. Basically there are 2 major types. One that mounts to the bumper (light duty), and one that mounts to the tunnel (heavy duty).
Which style do you have? Do you have a pic like suggested above, or a Royal part number?

What kind of speed is this sled your towing rated for? I`ve towed a few sleds in my day with the srx but never a sled like that...lol

I have a hitch on my viper but can't take any picks of it since I am at work. I know it sounds funny but if it is the only way you can get stuff to camp I say do it. I use mine for ice fishing.

Can you post a picture of the hitch assembly, then I might be able to help you. THIS is something to laugh at:
I like it!

I got the heavy duty one that mounts to my tunnel. Do you think I should trade it in for the bumper one?
Thanks for your help guys!

The sled I bought is from Costco and I'm not sure what it is rated for but it isn't that heavy.

A hitch on an SRX is a great idea. Cats need to get home too. Towed my buddies 660 Turbo home twice. He has actually made a toboggan for it so the track doesn't have to spin. He was smart to do that after his first breakdown. Drive has seized on him 3 times.
I want a clean looking installation where the hitch is not very visible. Was thinking of just wrapping flat stock around the steel bar under the plastic and drilling a hole through it. Drill a hole through the bar on each side and put a cotter pin in it to keep it centered.

I like your idea sledbuttrob! I don't want it to be to visible so I think I might trade it in for the small hitch that fits on the bumper. I'm going to the Bass Pro this weekend and there is a Royal Distributing on the way.
