Hey guys, i just noticed that when i start my sled from cold and after i choke it runs fine until it idles down then i can here a cylinder kick in and out. I feel the pipes and the middle one number 2 is cold and the other 2 are hot. Once i take off and rip around it's firing on all three cylinders, and the pipe is the same temp as the others. I removed my pipes not to long ago and i remember emptying a little bit of gas from the pipe. Do you guys think i have a bad reed or something to do with the carbs. I have changed spark pluigs and no difference. Thanks

do a compreesion test possible cylinder down
what about your carbs... looked at the pilots and needle settings ??
Once it is warmed up and it idles down, does the cylinder keep running ??

could your spark plug boot, possibly be going bad, where it doesn't provide a good "snap" onto the plug, which would lead to a bad connection? i would double check the carburetion and reeds.
hey bender i had that trouble on my 98 never found out what it was lollll.....
now i got new carb and new coil ill let u know about it ....i think the needle and seat in carb bowl was a bit wear and the carb was leaking during the night in the cylinder but still not sure didnt try the sled yet only did a run around the block here

I got a good snap on the spark plug boot when i install it. I haven't done a compression check yet but, i don't think that's the cause, but you never know. Yeah once i take it for a rip and get the gas burnt out of the pipe it stays running. And one other thing i forgot to mention is when i first start it cold with the choke still on it revs right up to almost 4000rpms and i just keep the choke on until it comes downs.

it was always in the morning the first time i start the sled after that it was ok for the days ....
sounds like a lean spot for the overraving

Yes its always the middle cylinder, and its aways when i first start it. But it's sits for a few days inbetween
weird it was my middle cylinder too ...i think its something with needle and seat inside carb leaking...it sounds the same problem i had ..sometime to make it run on 3 i hold the throttle to make it rave higher and sunddenly it make a backfire and woohoooo its ok never founds that problem.. but i think it have something flood that cylinder went its park

Before you pull your carbs verify that your starter circuit(choke) is returning on that carb...If they return, switch out the coil to another cylinder & see if the problem move with it...Then pull your carbs off & remove the floats...take a good look at the float needles you will see a ring, an indication that the tips are worn...get a new set w/seats & adjust your floats to 14mm you should be good to go...BenderSRX said:Yes its always the middle cylinder, and its aways when i first start it. clean the carbs
Blue blood is correct, your idle circuit is clogged, common problem when sleds set over the summer.

Yeah, clean ur carbs if you haven't. If it idles fine with the choke on, it's the idle circuit. The pilots on mine get clogged every year after sitting for the summer, same thing with my buddies MM700. Common issue. Use a wire to clean them out good, not just cleaner and compressed air...make sure nothing is going to stick to the inside again anytime soon.

Good advice theblues, i'm going to verify the choke is not sticking. I think that could be the problem because the cylinder gets to much gas i think. After that i will pull the carbs and clean them
