What size bolt is used as weight in the 89a weights? Or do the weights need to be tapped and treaded?

Thanks

You can peen the rivet over a small 1 gram washer. check that the washer does not go over the top of the arm & interfere with upshift. You can also use an empty 22 shell & pound it in for about 6-7 grams. I really want to express using an empty shell. Loaded ones are not happy spinning round & round at 8500 rpm.

I have used bolts & nuts...but...check for spider clearence. If the nut/bolt combo is too long it hits the spider on the upshift. Bolt em in & check for clearence by slowly opening & closing the moveable shive. after you have everything dialed put a little loc-tite on the threads so stuff does not come apart.

by the way 89a only got one hole and 89a-10 got two hole ...the 89a-10 work better

i make my own weights outta lead... drill a block of hardwood to whatever the hole size is... then counter sink one side... i.e. take a bigger bit and drill the one end bigger.. that leaves a nice head for it to act as a stopper, then you just mushroom the other side over.... can make em as big as you want... i always check my weights with a dope scale.... i.e. a little electronic scale.. i bought mine at a dope store so donno what eles to call it... to check for clearance i put the clutch together with no spring and play with it to make sure nothin is gonna hit.... as for the lead just go and steal the wheel weights off your neighbors car..... and melt er down...

just get some from Hauck powersports. They have bolds and nuts in 4.5 gram,5.0,5.5,and 6 grams. They work alot better then rivets. No need to tap or drill anything.
