I have a 2000 SRX and 1997 VMAX 700SX. I have been running the Ultimax 3 belt on my SRX but would like to go back to the stock 8dn belt. Can I use these Ultimax 3 belts on my VMAX? I checked the part numbers and the only difference I see is that the SRX lists 8dn for the first numbers and the VMAX lists 89L. Otherwise, all the other numbers are the same. Are they interchangeable?
yes, it will work. However the listing on the vmax sx is 8ch not 89L

I just looked the belt up, 97 700 sx takes an 89L. This was on the Yamaha parts fisch. What is the difference between the 8DN and 89L?

89L is a much softer belt.
I ran an 8DN last year on my 700sx and wifes 600sx, both sleds ran well over 2,000 miles on same belt. I routinely change the belt every fall with a new one. use old as spare, I have not needed to replace a belt on the trail since the early 90's when we ran Arctic Crap. We ran several belts per year on those machines, granted this was in powder conditions in Colorado.

Thanks guys. It's good to know that I can use them as spares instead of sell them.
the 89L will definately work however the spec is an 8ch on the 700, 89L for the 600sx, Your information was misprinted!alswagg said:I just looked the belt up, 97 700 sx takes an 89L. This was on the Yamaha parts fisch. What is the difference between the 8DN and 89L?

Ok. I got 89L from the parts fiche on portyamaha.com. I can only assume that they know what they are talking about. But likewise, it may be a more or less generic fiche for similar sleds. But either way, the Ultimax 3 belts should work, right? The whole point here is to make sure I don't need to get rid of these things. I can use them on the VMAX, yeah?
