I am finishing up the reverse install, but am wondering how tight the chain should be.

how much of the bolt should be showing outside the chaincase? Right from the flange to the tip ot bolt, else end of threads?

Reverse setup came from sx700

x3 and a big agreement with CC. It's a good idea to try the adjustment thing before you put the cover back on just so you can see what's happening tension wise and get the 'feel' of it. Back it off a little then put the cover on and re-adjust. This kind of sucks if you have the cover back on already.

Absolutely, you are right Crewchief, adjust it with the cover off, then you know exactly whats going on...I forgot to mention this tip...kudos to crewchief47....

ok, sorry to be a pain, but finger tight just until its slightlysnug? or until fingers cant twist anymore?....I have big bear hands, so finger tight can be pretty tight...LOL

On my original case, I marked the bolt so when I re-tightened, just went to the mark.

This is off another completely different sled, and never tightened one with revese guts so.....and no marks from previous owner

No bear paws allowed on the adjuster! Slightly snug is the idea. With the cover off, you'll see. You want it tight enough so there's no flopping, but loose enough to not load the bearings, if that helps. Or, hold the chain tight with your one finger and then run the adjuster up to it.

Snug it finger tight and back it out 1/2 turn and then tighten the jam nut. Rotate track 1 complete turn, and then recheck. I always run mine a 1/2 turn out.
