i'm running the break in on my new '04 venom (17.5 miles on odometer) and i'm seeing about 4100 - 4200 rpm for clutch engagment and i got a handful of throttle and saw about 9100 rpm on tach(felt like it still had some left power left). what do i need to do to get top end rpm back to the suggested mid 8000's and how can i get the engagment down into the mid 3000's(or lower)? my '94 phazer engages at about 3000 rpm and that seems to work for me trail riding. i know this topics is beat to death but i've not worked much with clutches, so type slow cause i'm not that fast at picking this stuff up........
thanks
also.... sled is 100% stock(so the dealer told me)

well if you go in the tec pages, there are a whole bunch of good set-ups there under sx600r, vmax (make shure it is a tripple by the tac readings of 8500), venture etc.
from the sounds of it though all you need is more tip weight. turk is better at this but i would add 1gram more to the tips and throw in a new primary spring as i think yours is weak. try just a new primary spring 1st. had similar problem on my enticer not reving properly and it turned out to be the primary spring was weak. when i bought it it was a 4 year old non-current sled so i bet that is the problem.

When mine was stock, I threw in some tip weight and it brought it down a little bit. Like you said the magic number is in the mid 8's (8400-8600) stock. You will see a nice gain if you get your RPM's down. Now that I think about it, I put 4.5 gm rivets in the inner hole, and that got me pretty close. I think that's what Turk had been recommending to try. Do a search and you may find some more information.

I have the 04 as well. Turk helped me a lot with the set up.I replaced the GGG primary to YGY and 4.5 inner and outer not a bad set up went from 9200 rpm to 8600 but it really did'nt pull as good as it should. Now running a hauck #4 kit that consists of new pri and sec springs new cams and helix. 8400 rpm and pulls good all the way thru.
Kit is $250 US , probably cheaper than buying tuning parts and trying to dial it yourself.

flyboeing757-When I get home, I'll look at my notes, I have one of Hauck's clutch kits, and I could tell you everything that's in it for set up (If I still have the set up sheet). I'm sure it's the same kit that helix is talking about. Hauck's kit worked pretty well, but still needs some tuning too you're riding style. let me know. Drew
