hey guys have 2002 sx viper had it out twice this season ran great this time goes to 3000 rpm then done stays at 3000 but no power just a bog checked cables ... ???? no clue

sounds Like the TORS (throttle override sensor) tight throttle cable is usually the culprit

Maybe a bad sensor, you can override it by connecting the two bullet connectors on the mag side of the carbs somewhere down there in the wiring harness.

Just remember that the TORS is a safety device. If you run without it, you better be quick to the kill switch if the throttle ever sticks. Usually the TORS activates if the cable is too tight. Commonly happens with handlebar risers, or after carb cleaning.

It is ok to bypass it for testing, but I like to find the source and correct it. Then I reconnect the TORS.

yea, USUALLY its a tight throttle cable, so i would check there first, my buddy had the TORS system come on after we put the carbs on, turns out we could play a tune on the throttle cable it was so tight and that fixed the problem, you need about 2.5mm gap up in the thumb lever and where the sensor kill switch is.

I had the tors come on after i checked something after a ride. I must have bumped or pulled the cable. If it didn't come on the sled would have been down town somewere because i was not on the sled when i started it. Its a very good feture to have.

thanks for the help !! but i did check the cable first and i have quite a bit of free play .. whats the chances of that sensor just going bad???
