So I've went from "srx stretch advice" to "how much is my 98srx worth" to lets just put a better track on and use this hot rod. Its still got the useless stock track on it that won't even think about hooking up till about 50...on grass. I even went so far on the stretch idea that I have a brand new mcat 153 take off skid in my shop that I'm now trying to resell...why can't I think these things out better? So I've got a 1.5 inch camo intense on the way from richmotorsports and I want to have all my parts ready when it comes. What bearings/seals/parts should a guy replace while everything is apart or can I just reuse them if they look o.k. The sled only has 900 miles on it. Any other advice on swapping a track would be much appreciated...I've already got about 20 pages of stuff printed out from TY on the subject but I'll take all the advice I can get. thanks
Can't think of anything that hasn't been posted in the last year.

Read this...

Only new parts i could think of is probably a new driveshaft bearing, depending how everything else looks it should be fine.

i just read that and it looks like this is gonna be a major job..couldnt you just let the drive wheels go enough to pull the track off and slid the new track on? I don't understand why the entire chaincase would have to come out...TopGunnSrx said:Read this...

the shaft will have no way to move if the chaincase is on....back/forth, or up down for that matter.
For the price of the locking bearing, I say replace it....well worth it if you need to take the shaft out again.....those allen head screws can be a nightmare

so the whole chain case has to come out? must be different on a yamaha..usaually i just pulled the bottom sprocket off and pushed it out through enough to slide the track by,oh well, looks like a 24 of beer for this one..lolchilli said:the shaft will have no way to move if the chaincase is on....back/forth, or up down for that matter.

it really aint that bad, just gotta do it in the right order... pull chaincase cover, remove chain, and gears, remove snap rings, remove 6-7 bolts holding housing on, then it will come off..... look out for the parking brake, that can be kinda funky to get on over the disc because its a stupid design because its molded to the housing. but it will come.
good luck.
good luck.

max power, a 1.5 inch track? you sure that lug height will fit with stock drivers? i thought 1.25 was pushing it with stock drivers. gonna have to go 8.
It will fit. Just can't run stud protectors.

I've researched the 1.5 track, and have learned enough about forums to know most guys on them you have to take with a grain of salt...like me for example. Then there are a few in every forum that straight up know what they are talking about. I found the green light on a srx with stock drivers up to 1.75 lugs from betheviper...who is one of those guys that I think straight up knows what he is talking about. So I'm runnin with it!

relax yamidude. maxpower, you cannot run 1.75" without removing the tunnel and front heat exchanger guards. easy enough to remove just be careful not to damage the rad.

Whoa there yamidude! Well after I posted that I thought this might happen. I wasn't trying to be a dick at all, you needed to take me with a grain of salt remember. More observations on forums...1.They are mostly for fun. 2.A lot of the info is from peolple making an educated guess to try and help someone out. 3.You have to filter through the BS. 4.Some guys really do know whay they are talking about. 5.They're is always some dudes just waiting for a fight, to take something totally wrong and snap. 6.I just found one of those dudes. I wasn't implying you don't know what you're talking about or that I am...just was saying I didn't get my info from somebody that I had to filter BS from. After I submitted that post it dawned on me that you probably were going to think I was saying you're one of the guys who doesn't know what you're talking about...it came off wrong and that wasn't what I meant. I was actually answering your question and letting you know it came from a good source...looking back now it is easy to read my post and have it come off sounding like I was trying to make you look bad, didn't mean to and sorry. So take it easy there and just so you know, my wife agree's with you about me being an a-hole...but I don't think she knows what she's talking about.

now i shouldn't even comment after you being a prick (even though your half azz said sorry) but i have a 144 with a 1.75 lug and i have 8 tooth. mine is really close to hitting rad when flexed down with protecters off. i hope you put it on and it rubs when the track gets compressed and rips your rad. will serve you right! listen to who you want, might work but telling you mine wouldnt, but mines a 01 and yours isnt. mine has had it done and yours hasnt.

LOL...
I thought your apology sounded sincere to me, but, like your wife, what the hell do I know. I think you'd do good to listen to Scott (Betheviper).
