ripsaw track?

just put a ripsaw track on my srx and it does howl down the trail but i noticed when you punch it over anything hard like a log or dirt the hole sled vibrates like hell and it sounds like the lugs are going to rip off,can someone tell me if they tear out easy
 
If it is a 1.25" lug track the lugs may be making contact with your tunnel protectors when the suspension fully travels. Many TY members have had this problem and the answer is to let the track wear-in or remove some of the lug in the location of the protectors manually. Take a look at your tunnel protectors, if they are all marked up with rubber then the track lugs are hitting, if not then it is maybe racheting and needs to be tightened. My guess is it is a combination of both if the track has less than 500 miles on it and has 1.25" lugs.
 
you need to look at the clearance issue. I just put the same track in my srx and i removed the protectors before i installed it. there is no vibration or rubbing. you can take a knife and notch out the track but i couldnt see the point in putting a paddle track on a sled then notching it.
 
Ripsaw track

I had to remove my tunnel protectors and also had to cut the track to get rid of the rubbing on the heat exchanger protectors. I have an 1 1/2 track and now I love it. I never had a track that hooked up like this.
 
I used to have a 1.25" Ripsaw on my Polaris and it howl and rumbled like crazy. I think a lot of it has to do with how much less clearance you have between the underside of the tunnel and the lugs. When the chunks of ice fall off the underside of the tunnel, they rattle around a lot more before they break up into small enough pieces to pass through.
It drove me crazy and after 1 year of riding with the Ripsaw I traded it for a .91" track off of an Arctic Cat.
I loved the hookup of the track, but the noise drove me crazy.
 
I noticed more noise on mine after I put it on. I had all protectors off and figured it was pumping a lot more snow through the tunnel with the longer lug. After a while I didn't notice it anymore. It stretched pretty good at first so keep an eye on that also.
 
i put a 1" ripsaw i got from cb performance and no noise and it hooks up great no vibration. now my nytro has a 1.25" and i have no vibration with that either. except for when it ate the lower inner idlers but mine lasted alot longer than other people complaining about it i got 2200 mi out of mine.

Why would you punch it on a log or dirt? Tracks are meant for snow. It's not a dirt bike. That's like adding 144 new studs and punching it while crossing a street. A lot of money down the drain.

Anyways. Clearly it is too loose. 2" is way to loose especially for a new track that will stretch. I just added a new 1.25" ripsaw to my SRX and set it at around 3/4" to 1" sag. Had some howling from track rub on protectors, but went away fairly quick. After 150 mile ride, I have nearly 1.5" sag and need to tighten again.
 
My sled vibrates a lot when I try and climb a tree also.

Sorry, you just struck my funny bone. Tighten her up and you should be fine.
 
might want to check your coggs to make sure they arent broken, check the tension on your chain, my sled was howling and making noise because i had the chain too tight. just a thought.
 
when I put the 1.25" ripsaw on my sx-r It howled for a few hundred miles until it wore the tunnel protectors under the seat down.
