I have 2 identical 02 vipers, one is slipping/squealing a belt. I bought a new belt from yami. I checked jack shaft and drive shaft bearings, checked all suspension bearings, and track tension. To see if i could find a tight spot all seems well. Took apart secondary clutch , checked bushings and buttons. all good. cleaned it.
My question is ,should I buy a new secondary spring from yami or can i tighten that one up by moving it over to a different hole so the wind is tighter, (probably change engagement rpm). Have you heard of these springs getting weak ? Should I be looking at other areas to figure out why i have belt slip / squeal ?

brand new belt is squealing? did you remove the shims from the secondary?

New belt not sqealling but can still spread sheaves apart easily compared to viper #2 , could I have a week secondary spring ?
Viper uses soft secondary tension so it,s normal to be easy to open. Secondary does not affect engagement rpm,s. If your belt is slipping it will drop rpm,s on holeshot at wide open throttle & secondary clutch shives will be smokin hot after some hi speed runs

you need to replace the bolts that are on the rear of the secondary that adjusts the belt height, they tend to wear out and lose there adjustability. pick up a few new washers while your at it.

You still need to check the three screws on the back side, a new belt always squeals on mine and I have to adjust to get it to the proper height. As they wear and get narrower, they need to be adjusted to keep the proper height. Then a new, wider one is put on and it rides too high, which caused tightness on the primary and makes it squeal at idle. Are you sure it is slipping, or is it just the squealing that your hearing? On the weak spring question: You cleaned the secondary on the one easy to open. Is the other one not cleaned yet? My secondary is always way easier to open after it is clean vs dirty.
