I took my carbs off to clean them today. The float bowls were full of 2 stroke oil. The fuel pump was also full of oil. Last year the fuel pump had oil in it but the carbs didn't. Anybody have this happen to them?

Look closely at the one of the lines that comes from the oil injection pump...you will notice that it runs to the fuel pump. Interesting isn't it? HMMMMM I wonder why Yamaha would do this? Maybe because that's how the oil is injected! It mixes with the fuel at the pump before reaching the bowls on the carbs. As the fuel evaporates during summer storage, it leaves behind a nice protective coating of oil. Pretty cool, eh ?

I know how they inject the oil, but this wasnt a film.
The float bowls were filled to the brim. The oil tank is about a half quart down from last year.

Chili you may be right. I pulled it over about 20 times before i took the carbs off and cleaned them. I put the carbs on last night, this morning it fired on the first pull and stayed running on the third pull. So i went ahead and idled it down to 900 and proceeded to clean and adjust the power valves. :2strokes:

See you do like to work on sleds, just accept it. Life is much simpler when we are wrenching . . .

Lol. I dont mind working on sleds. When you are wrenching, you are past the drink beer and diagnose time and well on the way to getting it fixed.

Easy there Lenny...

Yes on the Yammis they inject the oil into the fuel pump, so you will have oil in the carbs.

Did I come across too harsh? Sorry if I did. Was just have a little fun with this one. I just went thru the opposite problem....not enough oil and lost my crank. Due to my own fault.
