Gravity Worx Oil/Throttle cable adjustment

Last night I installed a Gravity works throttle and oil cable on my viper. The oil cable had a jam nut on the mount so I could adjust it close and then mount it securely with the factory nylock nut. The oil cable came with the split adjustment in the closed position. On the factory cables, at idle, is there a small about of slack on the lever arm on the pump of is there preset tension? When I installed the cable, I left it so that it bottoms out the lever and there is a small amount of slack. I can increase the tension with the split adjustment, but wasn't sure if I need to. I know the factory cables have like a 21 mm gap on the cable, but since the gravity worx cables mount a little differently, I think this measurement doesn't do me any good because my starting or mounting point of the cable is different.

Basically, should there be a small amount of slack on the oil pump cable when the sled is at idle or should there be some tension and stroke on the lever arm. I do not want to burn it down just because I added a 4" bar riser. I set the oil pump with similar slack as on the throttle cable. Am I all right? Please help.

I think I know the answer to my question. I think I am going to have to pull the carbs and the motor mount and revisit the oil pump. I hear rumors that there are two indicators on the pump that show the arm position at idle and wfo. Hopefully that is true about the indicators. I think then I am going to adjust my split in the cable to 20mm for fine tune adjustment.

Sound kosher to you guys?

What I did was measure the in-between distance(22mm) of the stock cable, then removed it, then set the Gravity Worxs cable to the same slack of the stock cable. Make sense?

Kind of. The stock cable measured 20mm, but the end of the cable mounts differently between the stock cable and the gravity worx cables. The stock cables are fixed near the oil pump in an exact location without an adjustment and the gravity worx cables have an adjustment both at the end of the cable and in the middle. I suppose I could measure the cable end to mount on the stock cable and then adjust the gravity worx to match. Kind of hard to explain. Basically the end of the cable shield to cable end on the stock cable is fixed and the gravity worx cable shield can be adjusted as well.

Does anyone know for sure if there are indicator marks on the oil pump for idle for a start point in setting the cable. I know how to adjust the oil flow once it is in a good start point, but I just want to make sure I am at the correct place. If in doubt, I am going to premix 100:1 and check consumption for a few tanks.

When it comes down do it, I may be making this more complicated than it needs to be.

I am officially calling myself out as a complete idiot. These cables go in just like the stock cables. Also on a side not thanks to DAMAN for the multiple posts when I search oil pump cable settings. I guess I should double check all of the other stuff I tried to attempt at 1:00AM last night. Please disregard my previous babble.

For anyones information, the Gravity works cables have ample room for a 4" riser bar. and look sweet. The stock parking brake lever cable appears long enough as well.

All you do is measure the in between gap of your stock cable which should be 22mm, then remove it and set the Gravity Work cable SLACK to the same as your stock with both cables removed of course. Its not hard.......

Expert - That was exactly it. Was very easy. I had over analysed the situation for some reason and thought way too much into it.
