I am looking for some suspension set up tips. I own an 02 viper and would like to soften the front and rear suspension. It handles ok, but it is just way to punishing of a ride.
I want to be able to ride hard into tight corners and just as hard exiting. I have a 96 XCR 600 mono block triple that does it beautifully and also rides better. I want at least equal performance, but am hoping for far better considering the viper is 6yrs newer and a yamaha.
This is my first yammy and the only thing that impresses me is the power and speed. That to me is useless, unless you plan on going in a straight line all day. Nothing is better than spanking my friends on their new big dollar sleds in the trails and on the lakes with my $2000 XCR.
With the 600 out for this season, the $3000 viper is handed down the paddle, but the paddle remains unused thus far. Any info would be appreciated by me and the devil in the blue dress, no help would make my skidoo riding friends much happier.

The 02 Viper has very stiff shocks. You may want to have them revalved for your weight and style of driving. You may also want to check the settings of the suspension and make sure it is adjusted to your weight and driving style.

Use the search tab and you will find alot to read on this subject

Get a ZX2 skid!

I fiddled with my rear suspension on my viper for three years. I have owned every single brand except cats. No matter what you do, you can't set this sled up for every kind of trail condition. It is a give and take type sled. If you really want to enjoy this sled, look for a zx2 skid or expert x from ad bovin. I put one in mine and it transformed this sled into a wicket riding and handling machine. If you plan on keep this machine, it is well worth the money.
