Well ive just about had it with the 94 vmax 600,the suspension or total lack of is going to kill me!Due to fact of where i live my options are limited a bit so do i upgrade to a m10 or adbovin zx2 at a cost of 1800 or so or do i buy a newer used sled .dont have a ton of money but a local dealer has a 2000 vmax 600 triple for sale thought due to being the dead of winter and remote it would cost around 3 bills. The only thing wrong with my current sled is the rear suspension,it sucks it sucks it sucks!Of course fuel milage isnt anything to brag about either, hows the 600 triple in that respect?I see in the local paper a few xlt suspensions for sale(1993 to 1995),also.Would they be xtra 10?Any ways whats the best course of action here ?

I don't think the 93-95 XLT's had the xtra 10 in them. the 95 XCR600 did not have the xtra 10, but the 96 XCR600 did. I had a neighbor with the 95 xcr6, and we had a 96 xcr6 until last fall. I think you would need a 96 or newer indy to get the xtra10, I am pretty sure it was not made prior to 96.

How much could you get for your sled? The 600 triple was a lot better on gas than the 600 twin. Plus the procation chassis is a big upgrade in suspension from the pogo stick tss.

I took a 2000 Venture skid and installed it into my 94 VMAX 600 ST 136". Swap took about 4 hours total. I just transferred donor skids mounting locations to my sled. It was actually pretty easy to do. I will post soon showing what i did. Just need to get up north to take the pics i do have some after swap pics now.

Could proably get at least 1500 for the vmax maybe a tad more or less ,sleds up here go for stupid prices compared to the u.s.a.,i think i will go look at the vmax triple soon and make a decision between that one and ,hang on ,swear words coming ,a formula 3 700 which is going for a grand less than the yammy ,proably because its a private sale vs the yammy which is a dealer sled .

That f3 was actually a decent sled. Good looking too, especially in the CK3 chassis. In the previous gen chassis it was a decent looking sled, but those in the ck3 chassis were pretty badass looking. What year f3, and is is a triple piped one, or single piped? It is a case reed triple that as pretty darn reliable.

I nearly bought a Formula Z 580 in 98. That was a nice sled, and that formula will ride jsut as nice, much more so than the vmax you have, and regardless of triple or single pipes, it will get metter mpg to boot as well.

Good luck, let us know what you end up doing.

You will not gain much in the ride dept. With the ski doo. Drop a edge skid in the Yami.

Have you ridden one of these doos? They all rode pretty darn nicely, a lot better than any non pro action skid equipped tss vmax could. Even with a better skid in back, the tss is the limiting factor on ride quality.

It is a huge difference between the suspension he has in his vmax, and what any 700cc f3 has.

The doo is a 1999 ,im not familar with that year for suspension wise.I will also look at the 2000 vmax even though its a grand more maybe its worth it .Never really had a problem with the front end of my vmax its the rear thats killing me ,even with a new shock it still sucks ,i mainly stick to the trails now as im pushing 50 and my knees wont allow me to play to hard anyways, lol.

99 will be in the CK3 chassis.

it will be just like this...

or this...

yeah, just a bit more suspension than the tss vmax.

I'll tell ya what my buddy has a 98 formula 3 700 and that is a nice sled. Rides good, handles good, and is pretty darn fast. They come stock with i do believe 125 ponies with a single pipe. For 2k thats a good deal. If you pick that up find yourself some dynoport triple pipes and get yourself a cluth kit from them as well and hold on cause it'll take you for a ride. I wish i got a video of my buddy with his skis at a 90 degree angle.Rich at dynoport is a great guy and good to deal with. my .02

A couple Hourse worth of work, depends how good you are at measuring and drilling. Measure about 5 times (all the holes) then drill and it won't be a big deal.

Also helps to see if you can find a donor sled to look at at least for mounting info and measurments. (also for re-inforcement brackets if needed not sure if the edge needs it or not)

Found 2 suspensions close by,one is a edge 121 off a 440 xc and one is a x-10 from a 98 xc700 with fox shocks.any of these 2 work?
go with the edge skid. Those were very nice riding sleds. How much you looking to spend on a sled? I might be putting my wife's 03 Viper ER up for sale come first couple weeks of the new year. I'm just across the river.

honestly not a lot as i am tight right now ,would like to get by with mine if i could put a little cash in till i could afford a new beast.of course first one i look at ,when i was at the dealers was the fuelly venture ,lol, the pricey one !are there any detailed instructions around on how to put in a edge skid for my sled?i quess we have a little time right now as the rain storm last night must of killed the trails.

When i did my skid swap my friend just happened to have the same sled the donor came from. I had it up and running in 4 hours taking my time. I spent a hour taken measurements. I measure everything from the drive axle and top of the tunnel. Before i installed the track a did cycle the suspension up and down a few times to see if it would bind up. Worked like a charm. Preparation made all the difference. First trip after the swap i took it easy then checked all my bolts. Second trip pushed it alittle harder and re-checked everything. Third trip and every trip after that balls out with no problems at all. I put up a post about a primary clutch spring question and my sled pics if you want to see it.

For 3 grand I would get a SXR600 or 700. Should be easy to find in our area.

Or for cheap you can come and pick up my pro-action that was in my SRX.
