1982 SRX 500F 8R9 prosjekt

this is my sled, its not much to see but its gonna be

here is a picture of it from the early 90's:

i have done som work on it:

this is my donorsled (1983 V-max 540):

hood and those sideplates are painted by a pro, and i have ordered new replica SRX 500 decals. This cost me 1050$ !

the engine:
i have almost all of it, but i still missing a few parts to complete it with SRX500 parts. this will cost me more than 1200$ to complete, but hell yeah!!

the frame:
wide-modd most be removed, so i will take the front frame from the 8U9 chassis, thats the same part as the orginal 8R9. i find some parts on the 83 V-max 540 with 8R9 on it, like the CDI unit.

The coolersystem:
if you are a true Yamaha freak, then you have allready seen that its not stock. Yeah, its from 8U9 . I will remove it and replace it with the stock part.

Untill now this piece of crap has cost me 3000$ ! ! ! nad i havent really started yet.. yeah...

hehe til vinteren ;P nei så fort går det ikke
regner med at den vil koste meg 50 000,- å få den i topp stand )) hehe
neste vinter så skal den være kjørbar men regner ikke med at den er helt ferdig da heller . !

So whats left to it?since you are going to put 50 big ones in it(50 norwegian big ones that is,aprox 8-9 grand US dollars).Did you get the hood and side covers painted in the original jet black?i also heard you got the stripe-set for it

hehe,the thing is,it sounds like a hell of alot of cash,but the thing is that...well,i dont know how to realy explain this,but the dollar is at an all time low now compared to how things are here ower the pond.thats why people have been buying stuff like crazy from the US..i dont know if what i said now was right,but i think you can understand what im talking bout

This actually isn't so much if you think what you have to pay to get a sled painted by a pro,and all the parts you will need for it if you are going to have a MINT 8r9

I understand. The dollar is down there but people never realize how much labor adds up to raise the price no matter where you are. A lot of people give their stuff away.

for me, there is no other sled

i got my new SRX 500 stripes and they are so nice, and the Quallity is outstanding. Yeah and for only 350 $

Excellent work. Can't wait to see the finished project. You are still way ahead on what your sled is worth when you are done with it. Hopefully you will be able to get the parts you need over there, if not don't hesitate to email me again I will find what you are in need of.
