anyone no what the lightest skid is that will fit a viper or best skid for top end. speed is more important to me then ride.

or would i be better just making my current pro action (with ohlins) a full aluminum skid?

I was also looking at the edge skid, imo any kind of long travel skid you put in the srx or viper your gonna loose top end because of the ride height, not so much with the viper though because it already has a little higher ride height. my 2 cents

Take this for what its worth but when we use to race (oval ice racing) we put in an edge skid and off the top of my head I believe the yami skid is around 76lbs and an edge skid 43-46 lbs based on springs etc. and for the SOO I500 straightaway speeds are 120+ and it by far handles better too, I have an edge skid stretched to 136 waiting to go in once I get some money for a track,
I would go with an edge skid not the lightest but alot lighter than stock, handles better, and from my experience does not lose any top end should gain because of weight loss, and also can find them used complete for $2-500 bux vs any aftermarket $1200+ SO just my .02

The Viper was Long Travel straight from the factory floor, SRX was not because its more of Lake/Groomed sled.

The sc10 3 is a good upgrade as well and does not sit that mutch higher than the sled did before.I think it is lighter than a edge but dont know this for certain.Just flipped front brackets and kept the ohins.

yeah that skid is pretty bad ***, unfortunatly probably out of my price range and not for every day trail rideing imagine having to drive down a dirt road or across pavement, or busting through a washed trail. I woudl be to scared to ride it after spending $3500 plus the cost of wheels. well if i had cash to through away it woudl be on my sled.
I love the rails.

Polaris always had pretty nice , light skids that held up and rode nice. I say get an edge, or mabe an xtra10. The more suspension, the more power you lose through the track due to suspension. So, unless you need 13.5" or whatever an edge has, the xtra 10 might be better for top end speed and still provide nearly as much plushnes on nasty trail stuff.

That CarbonFiber skid looks nice, but after seeing what happens to carbon fiber wheels on sportbikes, and for ride plates on Jets skis I would never run that on a sled unless I had TONS of $$ to waste. Every so amny hours/ miles of riding ona smooth track, even CF sportbike wheels need to be Xrayed and inspected for cracks, and they do fail. The thought of having a wheel break apart at 100 mph or more on a bike is very scary to say the least.
