like the tittle says can you put a 700 red head in a srx tunnel, i know this is a dumb ? but the reason i ask is a buddie of my crashed his 02v-max 700 and picked up a srx with no motor and no rear skid for 200$ so it easy to do or would it be better to get another v-max tunnel
i have no idea but i would guess that they are close, i know all the parts i used to extend my srx came off a vmax 136 and the srx had all the same rear suspension provisions, some of the holes had to be drilled on the srx but the stiffners were all the same

prettty sure it will work if you have the motor mounts. The side coolers have different hose size but you can adapt to it. I have srx coolers and an srx steering column on a sx.
Why dont you put the SRX tunnel on the v-max tunnel and keep it original. The v-max skid should bolt up to it just fine.
You can part out the rest of the SRX. It would be much more of a pain to swap engines. You would need to swap ALL electrical components as well.

are you talking about talkin the front half from one and the back half of the other, if thats wat you mean then ya its alot less work in theroy but if they both arnt perfectly straight then they'll never line up properly and i dought either of these sled are "perfectly straight" plus if you take say the rear tunnel from the srx and front tunnel off the v-max you get into a problem with 2 ownerships because of serial numbers and so on, the only thing i can see not working is the coolent over flow botal but im not 100% sure

I agree. Swapping the engine compartment would be easier then swaping tunnels. I have never needed to swap a tunnel but I have parted out a sled and it looked to be a pain in the rear around the bulk head that a guy wanted. So I just sawzalled it off.. I have swaped the engine compartment from a twin to a tripple and it was not that bad.
Its not that bad of a job to swap tunnels, All you need is a 3/16 drill bit and a box full of rivets and alot of time. Whats the story on the VIN # Doesnt the same person own both sleds? It will just have to be registered by the sled it came off of maybe.
ya but it you switch the rear tunnel with the vin# on it are the ownership says say a 1998 srx 600 and you look at the sled and its a 2002 v-max 700 that can cause a whole lot of avodible hassels is he ever wants to sell the sled or has to make an insurance claim down the road, and as far as the electrical and motor and everything gose its just all nuts and blots and clips the tunnels your into rivits withs are a pain in the *** and there specail rivits if im not mistaken all i wanted to know is if there is any issues with the pipe, coolent overflow and the oil bottal it seams like everything else is the same and will work

The chassie's are typical you will need to remove the bulkhead from the xt and install it in the srx chassie . They are different !!!!!!
