hey guys, I just registered on the 4-stroke forum today but haven't been able to post yet, but i'm sure you can answer my question here for me. I bought an 08 hold over nytro 121 around dec.7th..well I was crossing a newly groomed field and there happend to be a hill and a hole just big enough for my track to fit in and my skis to go around..my luck the track went in the hole and these things seem to have an engine break so the sled went air born at 70 mph and it was like locking the brakes right up in the air we all know what happens then..the *** end goes over the front..well that happend unfortunatly and when it did it sent me over the front. It totally cleared the front end but landed on the *** end then on its side...so the damage done was two hand gaurds and a windshield which my legs took off...and its going to need a new tunnel assembly. Does anyone know what the price of a new tunnel is and how long it would take to rip that one out and put a new one in?They are starting it on monday...its a bummer this happend but atleast i'm walking!!

Wow, glad you are OK, it could have been a lot worse!!!! My luck has always been absolutely lousy every time I ride off of a groomed trail. My riding pals can drop off the trail and do some boondoacking without ever hittng something, everytime and I mean everytime I try it, I whack something. Replacing the entire tunnel is a big job, I don't know how much a new tunnel costs but i would say it will take at least 16 hours of labor. Wen you get the sled back, check it over frequently during your first few trips, it is easy for the best mechanics to miss some details like adjustments and making sure all the fasteners ar tight. Good luck and stay safe!!! Hey, at least it happened at the end of a year and you did not start out the new year with an accident.

yeah, i'm pretty bummed..the sled has only 140 miles on it..my dealer felt bad cause i've done alot of buisness with him..he gave me a $300 yamaha coupon atleast..i'm thinking $1500-2000...atleast..i'll find out monday..someone on here must have a general idea on how long it'll take to replace the tunnel...I thought I read on here 8 hours..but maybe i am mistaken

Yes, I would be bummed also if this happened to me. Look at it this way....at least you are OK and were not seriously injured or worse!!! Medical bills are way more expensive than sled repair bills. Sounds like the dealer it willing to work with you on the cost. Good luck!!!

Port Yamaha's fiche lists the 'complete' tunnel assy(including barakets etc.) at $1653 US, though I doubt you'd need all those parts. They didn't appear to have just the tunnel itself listed but I would assume it would be available to the dealer.

Yeah it only crinkled up about 8-10 inches in the back..didn't hurt the exhaust but everything up to the seat excluding the exhaust is toast...I'm assuming it'd be alot cheaper if he could get just the tunnel
?thanks for the input

Hey i hope it all works out for the best for you, the feeling is mutual, you don't got a sled, we don't have snow, so we are both not riding...
