Just wondering what sleds I should be able to run with. have a 04 sx viper s dropped one tooth on top gear and have a mbrp can on it. I was out on the weekend and wasen't very impressed on the lake.

Check in the tech area for clutch setups with that gearing and get rid of the can.
With proper setup these sleds run real strong but you are not going to beat the four strokers or the big cats

more speed? here is the formula for that.its guaranteed to work.
SPEED = RESEARCH + $$$$$$
if you don't believe me ask anyone in any type of racing. ;)!

97 on the lake I could of squeezed a bit more out of it but ran out of room. I couldn't shake a 04 500ss.

It was revving well past 8 now the sled was never raced before i got it in jan of this year and it only has 2200 miles on it.I know it wasn't raced because the old owner was afraid of it. Don't get me wrong the thing goes like hell but i was hoping for a bit more out of it. Would the gear slow it down that much or what and the valves have been cleaned .

dropping a tooth on the top will slow you down on top speed, but will help in your holeshot and a lil in the midrange.

Use search in srx/viper section, quite a few set-ups out there. It is different for trail, lake runs, etc. For example, there is 8dn-20 set-up, 8bu, 89a, heelclicker... Also need to see what your exact rpm's are, somewhere over 8000 doesn't tell much. What kind of snow, ie, traction, will also make a big difference. Find a set-up using search that fits what you want, and then someone like Turk, Tony, etc. can help you fine tune it. Most will tell you to get rid of the can, as they usually lose some hp with those.

it you lake ride, i would get rid of the 21t top sprocket, for the 22t stock top sprocket. then see how much mph you gain, and what rpms are out of the hole and max rpms.

also, i don't use clutch kits from companies, because i've always been able to put something together, that was better anyhow.

I took it out again today for a quick run and the sled is revving at 8900 wot and I found my clutch's where to far from each other they are aligned now.

If you are looking for top end for lake running, you need to replace the exhaust can and put the stock one back on. Also, replace your gears back to stock. Gearing down does nothing for this sled, other than spin more out of the hole and also lose top end.
