The primary clutch on my friend's '91 Phazer is sticking engaged. I've offered to clean it up, and concluded that the inner sheave has to be threaded on.
I've made a tool to hold the spider, and a tool to spin the sheave. Logically, it should have left-hand threads, so the belt doesn't try to back the sheave off. However, when I try to spin the sheave in the clockwise direction it doesn't budge.
If I'm right, I'll just have to try harder, but if I'm wrong, I don't want to damage anything...anybody know for sure what direction I need to go?
