MPI Transfer Kit

For you guys that have the MPI Transfer Kit installed on you sleds. There are 2 bolts and a shaft supplied in the kit. These are for the upper strap mount. Does the bolts thread into the shaft or is the shaft loose on the bolts and the bolts just fill the gap between the 2 gold flat link rods.
 
Yes, the two bolts extend through the nuts and into the inside of the shaft on both sides, which the upper portion of the straps hook to. Hope this helps, Soc
 
Just a hole, it's not threaded, and yes it just floats. It's basically a just a piece of pipe and there is a small bit of slop between the bolt and the inside of the pipe, it doesn't fit snug. Soc
 
Well I just checked with the Fastenal Company in town and they don't have a metric bolt the has the same thread pitch and what is on Yamaha. They could order but That is a week of waiting for sure. Look like I might have to open up the hole a little larger and retap to a common size.
 
Thats a bummer, usually they have everything and a whole lot cheaper. Remember the bolts have to go through the bushing in the gold relay rods, are you going to try to drill those larger too? Some models come with bearings instead which you can't drill. What are you using for straps? Soc
 
ok, I know I should have asked in another section, but does anybody know if the MPI Transfer Enhancement kit will work on my 136" Mountain Lite??? Its a pretty good price at 50 bucks
 
Well I got the straps installed . I am using mine conveor belting. It's rubber with some type of cord in the middle. I compressed the suspension a little so that when I put the straps on they would be snug. Turns out that I didn't compress it enough plus there seems to be a lot of stretch in that belting. I used two 3/4" straps. Might make them 1 inch instead and suck them up a little more. Only thing left to do is make some sort of sissor block to keep it from rotating to far back. What has everyone else done. Could I just cut off the extra thread on the bolt. I found some bolts , they are a little short but I think they will work fine. There is probably a 1/2" gap in the center between the two bolts.
 
The kit requires you to cut the end off that bolt. As far as your straps, I have mine set at "0" per MPI's holes in their straps and they are real loose installed. It's all in the angle of the scissor bracket location. Soc

My bracket right now with the sled in the air is straight up and down. I am more concerned that with the stretch that it could possibly go forward. I will move up to the next hole and see if I can get the bracket leaning a little to the back under tension.
 
Is that where the bottom is supposed to be attached. All other sleds I have seen have the straps onto the bottom of the scissor bolt and not the idler wheels.
 
SOC have you ever had any problem with your recoil guide spring comming out when you pull the rope. For the life of me I can't get this one to stay in no matter what I do. One pull and out it pops. Pissing me off royally.
 
Wow your right! I have only put approx. 20 miles and only on trails since I added these, been to cold. I was expecting my front to be lifting more than it was, I was going to tighten them up. Still seemed to handle smooth with them the wrong way. Yeah,what a dork . I went back and checked my instructions and according to the pic I was in the wrong place. I did remove the post with the pics because I do not want to give anyone false info. I have so far never had to mess with my pull start(knock on wood), but ask this question in a new thread and I'm sure there is help out there. Soc

Got the old girl running tonight. The sweet smell of 2 stroke smoke. I am sure it will give me a head ache later. Now to see if it makes away with antifreeze again. Had it happen last year then quit, and then this year when I take them out of storage, be damned if the bottle is empty. Haven't figured out where it went. It's not in the engine, not burning it. I would have noticed it in the garage for sure, and no visable leaks anywhere. Never had the temp light come on last year and the heat exchangers are all good and warm.
 
I hope this lifts the front at least a foot or so. I don't need a tail wheelie but just some loft to help out in the off trail situations. The wife always wants to cme play off trail but she said she gets to tired fighting the frontend. When she lets off the gas it's like a submarine. The nose always dives down.

I had a ski-d00 safari LE in the early 90's and I nicknamed that thing the bulldoser. No need for a trail groomer I just plowed my way through and made a nice wide trail for others to follow. That was if I could keep it going. First and last ski doo I would ever own. I almost hate them that much that some models I refuse to work on or I tell the guy that it's going to cost ya.
