have a 02 vmax 600 triple. Changed the oil pump cable out to the mountain cable as i put a riser on the sled. Now i have a huge puddle of oil on the shop floor. When i changed the cable i know i actuated the pump lever many times. Did I bust a line at the same time? what do you all think?

You probably pulled the oil line off ofthe pump or the tank which caused the leak. Go back over all the oil lines, you will probably find one which poped off. If they are hard and brittle, one could have cracked. If they are hard and brittle, it would be worth the time to change them all now. Good thing this happened in the garage rather than running on the trail. You would have lost the engine. If you change the lines, be sure to bleed the air out of them and run a tank of premix to be sure the engine gets enough oil.

I took the carbs back off and even removed the motor mount to see the oil pump. It looks like none of the lines on the pump are disconnected or cut.

I premixed 50:1 in the tank for safety. Fired the sled up and it ran normal. Issue i have is now the tank with just a bit of oil in it is drained. It seems whenever i hit the throttel i must be doing soething else. The oil tank is empty. Any other ideas. id ont see any spot were oil is leaking out. Is their something under the motor that might be undone?

I had a similar thing happen to me when I changed my cables to accomodate wider handle bars.

What it ended up being was I tweeked the bracket that connected the cable to the oil pump and this caused the pump body to become unseated and cause a small oil leak. Oil was barely coming out and I couldn't locate the leak but it was causing a big puddle under the sled.

Take out the airbox and feel around under the oil pump for oil. Taking out the airbox will allow you to have a betterr look around the oil bottle as well.

If the pump isn't seated dead nuts it'll leak. I ended up replacing the pump.
