Need help with my Phazer

I have a 1989 phazer and I cannot get it to go over 40 mph. When it gets up to 40 it starts to bog if you give it more gas and will not go any faster. But, when it is on the stand it doesn't do it. It has 140 psi on both cylinders and the clutches seem to be working ok. Anyone know where else to start looking???? :o| :o|

hay man clean them again
you got to clean them all the time if it has bin seating for so time
gas goes bad in a 6 weeks or so and
did you take all the old gas out of the tank and put in new gas

No, I haven't tried pulling out the choke yet. There is not enough snow to ride now so I'll have to wait on that lol. In the meantime I'll try to clean them again and see what happens and yes I am running the stock airbox. Thanks
 
May be totally un related but I had an 86 Phazer and it had the same symptoms and mine turned out to be the groung off the engine. Try turning your hand warmers off and see what happens.

Yeah, I'll try anything at this point lol, we are supposed to get some snow tomorrow so I'll try it out then and let ya know, thanks
 
Update!

Well, I cleaned the carbs, they seemed pretty clean except the rubber plugs on the pto carb were in the wrong spot, they were in the center and the left hole not the center and right like its supposed to be. I wonder if this is part of the problem or not. There still isnt enough snow to test ride it yet so I'll have to wait on that. Does that seem like it would cause that much of a problem if that rubber plug isnt in the right spot?????
 
If the rubbers are not in the right spot all kinds of bad things can happen:)


Actually that holds true for the stock butterfly carbs on the old phazer as well. Might have solved your issue.
 
Almost 100% sure the rubbers were the problem. Supposed to be center and right (over the pilots) if I can remember right. If reversed sled would run like crap as you described.

Hopefully we will get some snow so I can try it out lol the suspense is killing me lol...
 
Finally!!!!

Well we finally got enough snow to test ride it and man, what a huge difference. I couldnt believe how that one rubber plug being in the wrong spot could cause that many headaches. Thanks to everyones help I now have a usefull sled again. Thanks to all!!!!!!
