Close Call today..almost bit the bullet..gulp!!!

yep.On Hwy 75 the trail is a 2 way.The other side of the Hwy is not used.It has more farmers crossings to their fields andthere are the RR tracks and Hydro Poles with guide wire.I go there once a year maybe just to see how it is,but it is rough.Got to worry if CN Rail stacked up old RR ties close to the tracks and left them there all winter.About 3 years back I decided to go for a ride along the service road on that side, the snow was nice and I went up to St. Agathe.Itwas about 8 in the evening.Turned around and was heading back and came upon a Hydro Pole Guide wire(marked in yellow-thank God) and got around it quick and safe.On the East side of the HWY is where all the sleds go,buy in 2 directions.A lot of sledders coming of the Red River to Hwy 75,down the ditch along my house and head down to the Floodway and onto La Salle River.Certain times you may have a bunch of 4-5 sledders, but most of the times usually I see alot of 2 sledders or just 1 like me.On a nice warm sunny Sunday you would see more sledders.Today is -41 wind chill conditions, only seen 2 sleds go by.But it is clear out and no snow falling and you would see a sled coming from the other direction like 1/2 mile away and won't anticipate any problems. It is usually cloudy day, snow blowing around or at night you may run into a situation.Like that 25 year old that got killed on the La Salle River Friday evening. It was dark,he probably was going faster then the terrain allowed, his headlights didn't catch what was coming up fast enough and bang..he ends up with a broken neck or similar when the tree took him off the sled.I used to race on the La Salle River when I was younger, along with my cousin.I know what it is like when a tree appears hanging over the river after a turn.My cousin whipped ahead of me around a corner..me on his tail.Next thing my headlights spots him laying straight back on his seat(I noticed his brake lights),..big branch takes his windshield off..I just barely made it by him, just tapped my ski on the back side of his sled..We were young and foolish in them days..today I couldn't do that.

yeah, bluemonster i almost had 2 head-on collisions there just a little while ago, some kid on that was riding his bravo short track was razzin' around, in the dark, WITH NO HEADLIGHT!!! twice in 15 minutes i almost hit this kid front on, cause he never bothered to haul off the trail, i couldnt see him, his bravo is painted all black, man, i was pissed at that kid, lol. Its not that he couldnt pull off the trail, there was like 5 feet on both sides, he probably just assumed I could see him. He had a black coat on to for the best of it.
