Guys I have a problem. The recoil rope guide spring keeps popping out with one pull. I can't figure out why. I have tried moving it to different parts of the spring and is just slides out with one pull. I have pressed the spring forward and backwards to see if there would be more resistance one way or the other and still the dam thing pops out. What a stupid set up. I looked at maybe routing it a different way but nothing works without putting the rope at nasty angles which would make it harder to pull over.

Any Ideas

pops out of what? it just floats over the pull rope right? i thought it was for heat protection mostly

No mine is pinched between the bracket that hold the coolant line and the chaincase. It's just a soft spring about 4 inches long and 1/2" diameter. It acts as a guide so the pull rope doesn't wear through the chaincase cover.

It doesn't go in there. It just floats on the rope between the chaincase cover and the recoil itself. It's just heat protection, and when it pops out, it's actually popping into where it's supposed to be.

Well if that is where it goes I like it better where it is now. It makes pulling the rope alot easier. I know exactly when it pops out. I can feel it on the rope. So far it seems to be staying in place , I moved to as far as I can towards the recoil with just about a 1/2 inch sticking out. We will see tommorow if it stays put.
