suspensions really this bad in the older vmax?

was riding my 96 vmax w/2up seat today...why is it, that everytime I hit a bump with a passenger behind me, it almost feels like I bottom out.. are the suspensions really that bad in these sleds? I heard they are not very good. is there anything that can me done about this? the track and suspension look in excellent condition. Or is this normal w/ a 2up sled? I have never owned one before, and I only notice this when I have a passenger behind me...by the way, what is it that im hitting? It wouldnt be the track would it? as I would not want to take out a heat exchanger, or is this not possible? I seem to notice it going down a bumpy trailer, feels like im hitting the bottom of suspension...thanks, Pete
 
is that the track hitting bottom of sled when i hit a bump?

I have read alot of these post on changing to a better suspension system then the one that came with the vmax, but If I leave as is, am I doing any damage to the sled right now? is it normal to feel like its hitting bottom when you have a passenger? Im not sure this suspension even has different settins on it, as I dont have the owners manual, It is not the proaction suspension, and Im not sure how to adjust this older one....thanks, Pete
 
The DX suspension can have the loads adjusted on the springs, its possible the previous owner lightened it up so it wouldn't be as stiff when you are riding single. I know my DX will bounce the rear in the air if there is not a passenger but rides good with 2 not as good as the XT with 1 but still fair.
