How many pulls to get your SRX started?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering what the usual number of pulls to get your SRX started in very cold weather. The past week I had my 2000 SRX (with 1,700 miles) in temps of about -10 overnight. And the next night the temp was about 20. Well my SRX took about 5-6 pulls to get it going. Is that normal?

Thanks,
Zack

appearantly it is i wondered the same thing at about -30 mine took about 6-8 pulls to get goin if its in a heated shop it only takes half a pull with no choke

when it's that cold I pull the first couple of times very slow just to loosen things up - after the first pull and the recoil finaly pulls the rope back in it starts after a few more

starting srx

Big difference in number of pulls for me if I shut her down the night before with full choke until the engine dies.

This is how I shut her down all the time now.

My sled is taken a ton of pulls to start. like 10 to 15 when cold. As soon as it starts its runs like a top and when warm first pull with a bit of throttle. I replaced a bad stator last year with a used stator and from what I ve read i may have a weak stator.

I know its not an SRX but 5 or 6 sometimes 7 pulls in -10 to -20 to start our Vipers.

this is what I do when temps drop severly,
1, Full choke, ignition off pull over 2 times
2, Full choke ignition on, fires off perfectly and then leave half choke then to no choke.
When ignition is off and engine is rotated with choke on fuel mixture enters combustion chamber, then when ignition is on and pulled over a pre compressed fuel/air mixture is present incrankcase and cylinder.

thats a good idea ill have to try that one of these mornings its about -30 here so things get pretty stiff but that just may do the trick

I had mine in temps of -27F this last week and I waited tell it got to about -15 and it took about 15-18 pulls! Normally it takes about 5-6 pulls! I also use the choke tell it dies trick......but I didn't on that night it was chilli. I think that they all take more to start when cold, I don't care what anyone says!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mine start 9-10 times on 3rd pull, full choke

Very cold days, 2 pulls to get it moving, then I turn the key on, and 3 pulls for the win

Its amazing...3rd pull 99% of the time
