OK, searched alot of posts and have some clues? But not all the answers.
Problem: Sled started acting up when switching from high to low beam. High, no problems; Low,acted like TORS was problem. Then lost non-ignition electrical when tapping brake lever in High beam and tach stopped working at idle and non ignition dimmed intermittently. Now I have nothing at all (no more ignition).
I just had the motor out pre-season and checked/re-routed the motor rub problem. Should be OK there.
Tried the owners manual check (remove white relay), still no ignition.
I noticed a rub/cut thru on the yellow/black wire from the kill switch. Does anyone have specs on testing the kill switch for resistance so I can check it out?

check the wires where the handle bar wires go in to the main harness on the steering hoop .this is another common spot to have broken wires and will cause some of the problems you discribed.

I also checked and re-taped those wires when I had the thing torn down pre-season because of another post I had read.
Will a CDI box from a 2002 SRX run mine to check that out?

Check under the tank/seat wiring for rubs. Also check under the cdi, have to lift it up, can rub under there too (MrViper post).
If wiring all seems ok, then I would test the stator next. After you fix that kill switch wire and check, ofcourse.

By the way, you'll get tons more exposure to these questions if you post in the srx/viper section.

Yeah, I probably will post there. Just trying to keep tech in tech.
I hooked up another kill switch(I have a 2002 parts srx) and still no good.
I'll keep checking the wiring first, I've been thru this before w/ a 2001 sxr and it was a rub thru along the tube that the main harness follows.
I really wish I could find #'s for testing the switches, stator, etc., my buddy has the service manual and he says there's nothing in there w/ specifics.?.

Switches don't generally have a resistance spec, they are either open or closed. You need to check them for continuity in one of the positions and not in the other.

I tried the test that yamaha says to perform in the owners manual for this and it wasn't the problem.
I think I found the problem. I had a screw missing that was holding the clamp for the pickup coil. Looks like the screw backed out and went for a ride around and around inside the pull cord housing. There's plenty of knicks in my flywheel now and I'm getting no #'s out of the stator. The pickup coil tests out fine and wasn't damaged. I can't see any problems with the stator(burned up, melted, broken wires or coilings, etc.) but when testing w/ a meter, I get nothing.
When I test the stator from my 02 SRX I get .08ohms on both sides.
I am wondering what the #'s are supposed to be for the 01 stator and if those 02 #'s are even any good. I'm hoping to just use the 02 stator since it's a parts machine. But I'm not going to put it back together until I can get some spec #'s for these stators.

01 and 02 stators are the same.

Thanks!!! I'm putting it back together now.
Closer inspection of the stator revealed that nasty little bolt breaking some of the coiling wires in the back, hence the non-reading on the meter.
I just hope this 02 stator is good!

Do you have the ohms list for this model or a 99

This is all redhead stuff from 2000 but it may get you close.
