My 2000 SRX 700 has a pair of smoothing condensers. What do they do? Could they be part of the problem with having no spark to none of the 3 cylinders?
sounds like u have wiring under engine rubbing

They act like a battery. Basically as stated they are hooked onto the DC side of the wiring and smooth out the voltage. Usually they only mess with the tach and fuel gauge. If you have ever seen a electric start model they don't have them and that is why the tach does not work with the battery removed on those models.

Bypass them?
So in a no spark condition, I could bypass them and see if the spark appears?

I would highly HIGHLY doubt its your problem and you'll likely screw something else up by bypassing them if you mean shorting them out. I'm not sure what you mean by bypass treat them as a battery.
I know on the single headlight sleds that they are on a totaly seperate coil then the iginition so there is little possibility it would effect spark.. I think that you would be much better of checking the resistance of the stator, coils, and plug caps.

Oh they are called condensers but the are actually capicators.
