My 2000 SRX, which if you have been reading these posts you already know - has no spark. It is looking like the CDI box.
The part number for a 2000 SRX 700cc is 8DN-85540-10-00 - which is what I might need.
Is this the same part number as the 600cc for the year 2000? Are they the same box?

the part number for the 600 srx is 8DF-85540-00-00. they didnt make an srx 600 in 2000 only 98 and 99. this is why the part number would be different. i would recommened getting another 700 cdi. also the 600 box is more money then the 700 box. hope this helps.

that explains it
That explains why I didn't see a 600 model listed in the yamaha parts list.
For those who don't have a source for this -
portyamaha.com has a feature where you can see the part numbers, and prices.

I know i am beating a dead horse. But, have you checked the wiring harness that plugs into the CDI? 2yrs ago I had the wiring harness issue and fixed it. But occasionally it will still freeze up w/no spark. I had 7 wires rubbed through on the CDI wiring harnesses... if not gone altogether. Take a good look. If not that, I would still tape, wrap in plastic convoluted tube, and I put some clear plastic label (that is used on dirtbikes) on the inside of the sheet metal above the footwell. Good luck.

Yep, the harness was checked and is A-OK. checked visually and checked all wires for continuity.
