trying to talk a friend into following turks clutch setup off of the tech section and notch his reed cage. He keeps saying he doesnt want to lose his stock reliability. How can I convince him these are not going to affect yamaha reliability?
Tell him I kinda felt like that, but clutched it up, rejet, moved needles, bored can, notched reeds and beat the livin' hell out of mine... and it's never ran better or faster!!
Right on Yamahauler4! Did the same things as well also did the head gasket mod and my rips hard. Granted since I drove a 4 stroke I am hooked but I love my sled and really really dont want to ever give her up!
Hey turk he just took it for a ride and it maxed out at 8600. Also I found a 48/42 helix from straightline performance would this be comparable to the 51/43 from yamaha?
Yes it would along with 4.5 gram rivets in the the flyweights to replace the lighter ones.Leave everything else alone in the clutches, this is what turk told me to do on mine and it runs well.A rx-1 helix could probably be found used.
