Sticking choke cables

I have two sleds, a 98 vmax and 96 phazer, both have issues with the choke sticking. The cable gets gummed up or something. How are you guys lubricating these? The kids keep breaking the choke lever off the vmax, very frustrating. Any ideas?

Mine froze while in -25* weater, I warmed and lubed with room temp WD-40. I believe the choke had gotten wet with thowed snow from the previous day's ride.

Good question, I have the same problem with my '97. WD-40 didn't work. Anybody?
