alright i know guys say the srx 700 is a tough starter but it takes me about 30 pulls to get it goin if it sits overnight outside or 4-8 if it sits for 4 hours any ideas what could cause this it cant be normal if it sits inside one pull and its runnin and i have tried using the choke to shut it down and pullin it with choke on and key off prior to starting it and neither has worked

fuel filter in in the tank at the end of the intake line.Good luck trying to change it.Did one on my 600.Even if you could get a wire in the tank to fish it up,will not make it thru the opening on tank.Have to dis-connect the junction point on the front of tank and dis-connect fuel line after it.Tie a string to that and then fish filter out of filler spout with a wire. The idea of a string on the other end is to pull line back out of the front of tank once you replace filter and shove back in.WASN't the easiest task.

make sure went u put choke that it pull the little plunger on carb.... if they get stuck they broke the little fork that pull on them..... sounds like no choke is apply in your situation

hey blue ..try to figure what happend at full throttle if the filter is block ..it will run like crap ... doesnt sounds like the problem...but its not a bad idea... and after one night sitting the carb bowl are not suppose to be empty..pump or not the sled should fired

many little things add up to a major issue eventually. You never know what crap is in the tank after many years, especially if old gas is left in it for to long.Just a precaution anyways.Filters are cheap to buy, labor just takes some time.

Jordan probably has nothing to do with your problem but worth a shot my 00 wont start worth a #### hot or cold unless its on high beam I know it sounds wierd but it works other than that my sled runs great and gets regular service including carbs cleaned and fuel filter.Ice

this is cause from harness rubbing under motor .....

well as far as the choke not comin on it does work when the sled is running and as for fuel in the bowls thats the thing it should get its fuel from there so what would cause them to go dry it ay not have anything to do with it but a few times whe i was tough to start i pulled the fuel cap off and it would fire right away after now if its not venting could it cause a negitive suction and maybe in turn cause my problem dunno just a shot in the dark

I was going to mention to check the vent, I've even heard if when cold suck on a first cleaned vent tube to pull some pressure into the system. Don't inhale.

A blocked vent tube is one of two times in 20 years a yamaha sled has left me stranded on the trail. The otehr was a powervalve cable pulling through the valve connection.

Modsrx I have not heard of this could you tell me more of where to look for this or is this a motor out job it would be great to get this sorted once and for all sorry jordan not trying to run away with your thread but I have had this issue for a couple of years now thanks. Ice

Jordan are you sure the starter/choke is working right. Did you try to flick it up when the engine is warm and running good, if its indiling it should kill the motor. just my .02c

yeah it will kill the motor when flipped on im gunna check float level as soon as i get a chance i gotta rejet anyway

so where is the vent tube located i know my quad was vented on the fuel cap but the sled isnt
the tube comes out the top of the tank under the hood on the right side if you are standing in front of the sled ..next the the bolt that holds the air box to the dash ....number 17 is the vent line ...see were it hooks up ...also if the line is pluged you could just leave the gas cap open and see if that help the problem instead of hunting down the line to find out that is not the problem ...
