I was running in Minnesota over the holiday's in -15*f with stock jetting, not a problem at all. I did run with my carb warmers on though.
Keep the wide open runs to the bare min and you will be fine. I would think also that it is a good idea to vari the throttle position, meaning if your on a long boring RR grade don't jus thold the gas in one place. And it wouldn't hurt to check your plugs.

I was also in temps between -20 and 20 above over the holidays and I check plugs and was just fine......like stated above try not to start it up and do wot lake runs without checking the plugs. Mine is jetted to stock specs and 90 percent of the time I am running too rich.....but l don't mind dropping a couple hp to keep me from rebuilding!

you have DCS, let'r rip.
i've ridden in colder weather than that and have never had any issues with stock viper jetting. i even have 3 TPI valves all the way open. DCS has never came on. i think Yamaha is overly cautious in their jetting specs cause stock jetting according to their chart is only good for 0 degrees. my WAG would be that -30 degrees wouldn't hurt it (but i wouldnt' hold it wide open very long, course it is too cold anyway).

thats what I thought been riding without worry for three years. But with access to this forum I've been second guessing alot of things I have done.

quick ? how many of you guys change jets based on the weather? my 04 viper has 156.3(stock jetting) with reed spacers. The three day forcast has a range of -14 and 10 above. What do you guys think?
A little off topic but did you notice a difference with the reed spacers installed?
