OK its official god hates me

hmmm... ok... 2-2500 was the originall quote he gave me off the bat to begin with...

would i b better off rebuilding the cylenders or just re plating them? trying to keep it stock and the most reliable as possible... mayb completely rebuilding the engine isnt the way to go... not cost wise anyways... he did say there will be a massive price difference in a rebuild then to replace everything with new equipment... pistons n rings where a given but thats not the exepsensive part...


how much is it for new plates for each cylender... canadian... cause i think thats also whats killing the fees.... he said the most expensive parts im wanting would be the plating in the cylender and a new crank...

any one ever have any problems after a crank rebuild? cylender rebuild is straigh forward.....

also how much does 1 head usualy cost? one of mine is done...

One thing about buying used engines is your never knowing what your gona get... i wouldnt want a repeat...

whats the max that most of guys would spend on a rebuild... (complete rebuild) crank and everything...

ill also bring the camera to the mechs see if i can get some snap shots of the pistons..... IF the camera feels like workin....

I just had 2 600 twin cylinder rebuilt at Millennium Technoligies www.mt-llc.com great work fast turn around about 1 week cost me with shipping about 180.00 a piece. They will only do whatever they need. Great Guys quality job. I rebuild a 600 twin this year cause I had problems like you but a had a connecting rod break just under the piston at about 7500 rpms and you can only imagine what kind of a mess I had i bought a bunch of stuff on ebay to get me going only to have a rod bearing go out on the crank of the one I bought so this year I built a different engine bought another used crank that was inspected by a crank shop had my cylinder replated/rebuilt bought wiseco pistons installed vforce 3 reeds put together myself RUNS GREAT you can do most of the work if you are mechanically incined and have a service book and take your time. I would recommend that you put some EGT gauges on sled KOSO make some nice one it may save this from happening again. GOOD LUCK

the pistons are from detonation all 3 are burnt exhaust port side n one piston had a chunk of the ring go ontop so its all chewed up and the head is pretty bad...

im basing on wether to bother with the sled on the crankshaft.. if the crank is ok... ill have the cylenders rebuilt/nykasild and put back together if the crank does need to be changed... im parting out the sled or i go n buy another engine for it or another srx...

now... i dont kno if its possible but it was the gas tank breather tube that was completely blocked cause the guy put the airbox over it n a washer cut any circulation going to it...

all 3 cylenders had the same jetting off 151 and 2of3 of my reeds where stuck open...

so thats the mechs assumptiom of what caused my engine to give out..
 
if the crank is good why rebuild it....get the three cylinders, pistons and rings. Or find used cylinders from a member on the site. It may end up costing you under 1000.00
 
thats the plan... i wouldnt rebuild the crank if not needed... its if it did need to be rebuilt then id be in a delama...

My mech is waiting on the comet clutch puller he ordered since he doesnt have one.. so he gots to wait for that to come in to give me the news
im getting 3 new pistons with the cylenders redone and i am also waiting on a head... they are on back order....
 
i gave myself a deal.. crank finished im getting rid of it.. crank good ill rebuild it...

And well ofcourse... my luck... crank is finished... so I am going to regretfully say... im parting out the sled... sell all the parts off of it and get as much $$ out of it as i can... I will be saving up for a Brand new sled... Got no clue which or what type of sled im going for that is undecided yet.. I will be doing some HEAVY researching on a few forums and make my desition by the end of the sumer coming up... Though im limiting my choices... I will not be buyin a Polaris or Articat... I would like to stick with Yamaha or Skidoo... Those are my top personal choices...
 
Decided to keep the srx... i couldnt give it away... i was able to say i was getting rid of it until i went to pick it up... shes just too sexy to give up... so im look around for another one..

found a 02 srx with New track and bearings AD Boivin suspension Cobra Windshield MBRP performance exaust for 4500... i dont know the km's on engine yet... but if the km's are under 5000 ill pay the 4500 or close to it.. any higher.. n ill lower the offer down much more...

I got the bill he showed me off all the parts i need... theres a but load of parts that need to be changed....
