LIFE MEMBER ONLY ONCE!!!
well had both my sleds out today and I can't complain at all. I went thru everything last night in the garage.I check from head to toe the complete sleds.There are no broken parts,nothing bent,plugs read good,greased everything up,checked track tension=good.
Did some clutching changes also.In the SRX now have:
Primary spring-> w-w-w
8dn-20 weights
4.5 inner & 5.4 outer
15.6 rollers
secondary Spring -> green at 70 wrap
47 Stock Helix
2001 SRX jetting
42.5 pilots
Sled ran great today.Started to back off fuel screws with the remote adj. and got it turned back from 2.5 to 1.5 turns out.And motor idles down right away..so that is good. If I pin it from an idle..seems to bog or starve fuel maybe when it hits around 8000 rpm's. But if I bring idle up to about 3000 rpm with throttle and then pin it....lookout.She flies.The ski's go up a bit and she rockets away.What a feeling and very responsive on throttle through out.Love my SRX and the clutches are cool to the touch.Did at least 10 hard launches in a row and pinned it.RPM's are good..8200 and steadily climbing,but I have no where to open it up around here.This year is really bad for finding any smooth area to run for 1/2 to 1 mile.Just to dangerous to try.
Man you have to hang on to them handle bars when she is hauling a$$.I think I will leave the SRX this way for now since it is running great.Only thing I may change before season is over is the belt,but still have life left with the current belt. I would like to try a gearing change perhaps also to what yammigod has on his.I think it was 24 upper and 40 lower gear.Less rolling resistance and a ratio of 1.66 compared to stock ratio of 1.65.
And my SXR 600 now runs great to,now runs stronger in the deeper snow and keeps the rpms up.Doesn't start dropping like last week. Now set up at :
Stock primary spring-> y-g-y
8dn-20 weights
2.7 inner and 3.6 outer
15 mm rollers
Secondary spring -> green at 80 wrap
47 Stock Helix
Jetted 1 size up--good for -20 F
geared down 1 tooth upper
Stock 42.5 pilots
There might be a slight over-rev in the powder,but will drop down.I could try a red spring or wrap to 70 to fix the problem.Really jumps when I pin it and pulls hard.Love my little 600 ditch banger.
So no burn downs here happening.And I run my sleds hard to..constantly testing their ability to perform.I can't say anything bad about them except I wish I could get better gas mileage from the SRX..what what do you expect when I have it pinned all the time.There are some days when I will ride it a little more easier..but that only lasts for the first 5 miles.Then I say.."What the Hell" and just give her.
Sorry to hear about some guys on here who are blowing up their motors.As 1 member said today.One spends so much time and money into mods just to get a couple of HP,but when they go "Boom"..was it worth it.Just get it running as safe and close as you can without being on the edge all the time.You don't think I have thoughts of motor going BOOM when I pin it hard. Yes,but I am not pushing the boundaries any more.
When I got some extra time,I will post some extra parts I have that won't be needing anymore.
