GREAT SITE GUYS!! Had a run in with a ditch pickle, put a good hurt'n on my tunnel. Can anyone tell me if a tunnel from a 01 would swap w/ my 00, and I know it look's like quite a job, is it worth the effort? The rest of sled is in great shape and skid still tracks straight, so it is rideable. Thanks for any help and advice you could give me! :2strokes:

What type of damage did you do? Can you get pictures?
Depending on the damage, it might be worth straightening and reinforcing the area instead of swapping tunnels.

The damage doesn't affect the way it rides & the sides of the tunnel are still square. It is more cosmetic and it did twist the cooler(can't believe it didn't break), but had to field dress some of the foot rail w/ channel locks and tear some of it away because it cut the cooant hose. Does anyone think it worth the effort to change tunnel to have a nice sled again or just rip on it the way it is?

you could always cut that sectionb out and tig a section back in from a donor sled clean it all up and give er some paint be good as new i just bent my tunnel too but i landed onn the back end and stuffed it hard but i pulled it all back and straightened it all out and im havin some 1/8" aluminum reinforcements cut to rivet on ove top. my next optionws gunna be cut out the whole rear section and tig a new one in

For now i would put a railway tie or a large wood block under it and fold it straight or straighter with a hammer.

And like jordan is saying maybie cut a new piece out of a tunnel and rivot it back in there along with a new cooler.
Just cut out the damage and set the new piece on top that has been cut out leaveing the straight line were it starts to go up.Slide a rod thru the rolled part into the section at the foot rest[if you have to leave a little there.

I think you could do it with no welding useing a [panel bond] and rivots[get yamy ones]

Straighten

That is smashed up good but if you dont want to loose much down time you could get it straight enough to ride for this year. Take that cooler off there and you will see that the running board is very flimsy. Get somthing solid under it and start bending and hammering. When you get it bent back down beat a metal rod down thru the roll on the edge of the tunnel. I have a cooler I'll ship you for $50 and at least you'll be good to go riding. Swap the tunnel in the summer if you want. The left side is MUCH easier to swap the cooler than the right because the coolant hose on the front is easily accessible under the secondary clutch. On the right it is behind the chain case and virtually impossible to get to the hose connection without removing the chain case. ;)!

Arctic Cat-ditch pickle!
Thanks for the advice guys, not planning any trips north the rest of the year so I'll just rip it up around home the rest of the season. It still rideable the way it is, so I'll leave it alone and work on it in the off season. Rick
