got everything out to change track. All that is left is the bearing on speedo side, both set screws out but she won't slide out. Sprayed it, drilled hole in side cover and hit shaft with punch. ng cause too much flex with tunnel and bearing mount. Anybody solve this without heating it with torch and smoking out bearing?
remove the rivets from the bearing housing in the tunnel, then the shaft will come out. once out, press the bearing off the shaft. be sure and clean the shaft off real well before replacing bearing. new bearing should easily slide on and off if shaft is prepped correctly. put some antisieze on the bearing race prior to installation.
rivets
so take out rivets on cover and clutch and all that? Can't think of a way to drill rivets out from jackshaft side. Thanks for help

Sears Small 2 Jaw Puller.
I used a 2 jaw puller from Sears, while the shaft was still in the sled. Search sears.com for Item #46905. There is enough room to fit it down between the plastic bellypan skirt and the tunnel. Good luck.

I have a nice 3 jaw with an outside clamp from Napa. this type provides pressure on all three legs holding legs to whatever is being pulled. Heat brg. with propane torch and pull off shaft with puller. If puller is not available you might have to drill rivets using a 90* drill.

and if all else fail, slowly take a dremel and cut away at the bearing..carefull not to gouge the shaft.Had a bad one to replace on my SXR600 years back.
secondary clutch out of the way, speedo cable houing cover removed, take a punch and drive the mandrels out of the rivets. then take some dikes and pull the rivet jams out. or an offset grinder works good. if you have a 90 degree drill, drill them. there is room in the bellypan to do both. i have had to do this on several drive shafts and it can be done.Vthideout said:so take out rivets on cover and clutch and all that?
