Started taking apart my engine today, was at my buddies shop so I didn't have a camera. Broke center connecting rod, broke the cases, center cylinder is trashed. That's as far as I went, I didn't need to see anymore. Once the pipes were out of the way, that's when I saw everything. I'd like to know how that happened, it didn't make a boom or anything, just felt like it fouled a plug and when I pulled over I heard a knocking noise, not very loud , didn't hear it until I was just about stopped and I put my shield up...
Anyways, I'm just going to get a different engine, if I get one out from a 00-02, besides jetting changes, will everything else electronically work in my 98? Mine is clutched, will I need to reclutch it for a newer year?
It's probably going to be a 2-3 weeks before I can buy an engine, been laid off for the last 2 weeks, at least I'm going back to work tommorrow though...
Just want to know if there will be any hiccups beforehand.
Thanks

im not sure how the magneto will work with your cdi as the 00-02 pushes out more power.may have a problem with the regulaters..
you will have to change the harness/cdi.

I may be better off finding a lower mileage 98-99 engine when the time comes...
You may be able to find a newer harness w/ engine combo, Lots of guys parting out sleds.. Try to find a package deal. Or the 98-99 motor..

Mopar1, thanks for the offer, but I'd like to just put something in it that's already together and be done with it for the rest of the year (knocking on wood). Like I said, being laid off kinda strapped me for $$, so it will probably be a bit before I can do anything.
