It just started today...when I take off it pulls great but at about 50 m/hr it seems to flatten out . If I back off and hit it again it pulls hard again...any thoughts. I was wondering if it's a power valve issue or if the clutch is sticking and not shifting properly.
Another thing I should add is that when it stops pulling hard the exhaust has a different tone...any help would be appreciated. I guess the first thing I should check would be PV pull through.
Is it always running on all 3 cylinders?? What do your plugs look like?
It's not missing or backfiring and no diagnostic lights. Plugs look great, I did clean the power valves last night though, they were really dirty, not sure if that would cause it though they weren't stuck. I did notice that my new track did loosen off quite a bit though, possibly rubbing on some ice under the tunnel? I am going to readjust the track and see if she's good this weekend.

Did you adjust your powervalves after you Cleaned them?? Kinda funny how the exhaust has a different tone when it happens.
No, I still have to adjust them, not sure if I should just idle it down to 900 or rig up a wiring harness to power up the servo.

idling it down to 900 works just as well as the harness method, i've always adjusted mine using the 900 rpm method and they all work fine.
well, I had it out today after checking track tension and power valves and it was still doing it. After about 2 hours we took a break and went into the clubhouse to warm up, after that I was watching the rpm's and noticed that when it stopped pulling hard while full throttle the rpm's were in the 7500 range, started to hammer on it up and down the rpm range and it seemed to free up, running great now, it pulls hard had it to 96 miles/hour across the field from a stand still...clutch sticking??? Should I be lubricating it with dry graphite, right now it's dry.
Thx

I had a problem similar to that early this year too. It would accelerate like normal to about 60-70 mph then just kind of fall on its face and not accel anymore. Took both the primary and secondary off and cleaned them up the best I could with warm soapy water, then threw them in the dishwasher. works good now.

Ya- maybe your sliding sheave bushing is getting stuck
Sounds about right...was working great this morning again but then it did it again. Must be sticking...now I have another problem. I was riding in the powder after racing my brother's MXZ 700...was kicking his but but then it did that bog thing and stayed at around 7200 rpm and he passed me like I was standing still. I was ticked and when we hit the next field I was up and down on the throttle in the powder trying to free up the clutch again. Well we stopped for a break and I noticed that it sounded different like running on 2 cylinders...checked and changed plugs even though they all looked good, still missing. Did a compresssion test...around 110-120, PTO side the lower one. Not sure where to check next...if I broke a reed valve would it run like it's missing?
Any help would be appreciated, we have a ton of snow now, need to ride.
How do you check if there is a broken reed?

Remove the carbs right off the airbox, then off the reed boots. Then remove the reeds from the motor, should be 4 10mm bolts.
My buddy has THE EXACT same problem, funny noise and everything, and I think its the reeds, going to take it apart soon and find out.

just for the hell of it..also check TPS isn't kicking in because when you pin it throttle cable gets to tight.I had something like that a fews days back on the SRX.I would launch hard and then it will hit around 7000-7500 and stuttered.Last night I loosened my cable and gave it slack.Seems like today it wasn't doing it.Just something else you can look at,but worn out clutch bushings will do that to..had that problem last season.
