Hey guys.
I just finished a 500 mile trip this weekend and with 50 miles to go, I made a big mistake. I left my heated shield wire resting under the hood and while riding the pipes melted the wire insulation and then then my sled started to die. I made it back to the trailer but had to not give it any throttle and keep it to under 40. If i turned my heated grips on, it made it even worse, with the motor strumblign even more. The DCS and temp lite both still blink 3 times at start up and no other warning light issues.
My tach, fuel gage doesnt work anymore probably because the heated windshield was wired to the tach connector. : (
Is my CDI fried or could it be somethin else?

you could have melted other wires from over current...look at the wiring harness.

thanks
Well, you guys were right, it was a bad ground. I had thought the worse and it was only the wire after all. I had taped it up that day on the trail and it didnt correct the problem so just didn't think removing it would be that simple.
Thanks for your help.
