one of my buddys has a srx 700, completely stock besides hauck growlers on it.(he's the reason for my username btw) he has had the sled for 3 years and keeps cracking his rails at the front cross shaft where the front shock mounts. he had his rails welded a few times, i gave him my mint cond. stock rails after i beat the
out of my proaction skid and put the edge in my sled. low and behold he broke one of those rails now. what is causing this? i have read on other forums that this is common with the srx but found no reason or remedy. he stricktly trailrides his sled and does no jumping/ditch pounding like i do. any insight to this issue fellas?

good question!! happened to me last season. i think it's from the front of rear shock continually bottoming out. something's got to give. the bolt is hardened steel & the rail alum.. bolt will win every time.

To make room for the fra link to swing down when compressed the w arm has been positioned to bolt in were all the weight of the sled is.After the plastic bushings and shock bushings wear there is play and sticking going on that dosent help.

i just dont understand how the skid survived under my sled, and not long after it goes under the srx the rail broke. i mean serious abuse, jumping 6ft snowbanks and flatlanding onto bare pavement at the gas station- heck i split a bulkead in half from bottoming out so hard, when i pulled it out it was in near perfect shape aside from the w-arm that was welded more than a couple times. its got to be a shock/limiter strap setup that puts added stress to that point on the srx. im not sure if he used my entire sx skid frame or just the rails. are the component mounting points different between the srx and sx that would cause a stress riser?

I went through the same thing before i swapped skids. Kept breaking rails and the cross shaft that the front shock mounts to. Finally gave up on it and put the edge in there. Best decision i ever made!

nobody has found a cure to this problem? this has got to be a setup issue. there are plenty of modded srxs' here that dont seem to be having this happen. hurry hes talking about trading it of for a cat!
