I'm ashamed to write that I ruined my baby this weekend. I learned my lesson the hard way. My friends and I were jumping this long rolling hill in Silver Springs NY. We'd get maybe 5 or 6 feet up and launch for what seemed like forever. I'm not a good judge of distance but it must have been 100+ feet. I was hitting it at about 60-70 mph. On my sixth or seventh attempt, I got tangled in some previous tracks and launched at a weird angle. My front end was too high and the left ski was a lot higher than the right so I gave it a little yank to the left and tapped the brake to try and level it off. Well, both corrections added up to too much correction. It all happened so fast. Everything felt fine until I was lying on the ground. The overcorrected ski sunk into the soft ground far enough to the point that the bumper caught. We rolled over forward once and then barrel rolled. The result was a demolished seat, mangled tunnel, two pretzeled tie rods, one fish hooked trailing arm, smashed hood screens, gas tank cracked near the mount bolts, scratched up hood, twisted belt cover, rear bumper and snow flap pointing the wrong way, drooping front bumper, inside out hood hinge, rear plastic molding is junk, anti-freeze everywhere, one snow burned arm, another sore arm, a very angry stomach, and one hell of a headache. The good news for me was that I walked away; sore and sick, but I still walked away. The '02 viper endured 72XX miles before I ruined it. Close to 3500 of them were from a 19-21 year old (me) pounding the snot out of it. In display of Yamaha’s reliability, the engine fired with the flick of the key. The entire drive line is still solid, the M-10 is still in one piece, as is the hood, bars, light, windshield, 1 trailing arm, all radius rods, Speedo/tach, and the slp skis are fine. I must apologize to all snowmobilers. It is stupidity and accidents like this that give the sport a negative image. I ruined the sport for myself. I scared myself. I don't plan on getting another sled. I know that I can influence my fate, and had I not jumped I wouldn't be in this situation; FRIENDS+TESTOSTERONE+ADRENALINE=TRYING TO BE THE FIRST ONE UP THE HILL. In my case that never ends well. Ride careful! Don't be stupid like me! Have fun! Keep the rubber side down! RIP VIPER.

Glad you are OK. How much for your M-10 and mounting kit? Might as well part that baby out.
when you get the sand out of your vagina, fix the sled and get back on it. pay your dues. after over 30 years of riding snowmobiles i have crashed, broke, twisted, bent ripped, torn about everthing on a sled, not to mention my body. i still repair and ride. if you crashed your car are you going to walk the rest of your life? i dont think so. man up, face your fears, and ride on. in order to be old and wise, first you must be young and dumb. you will be alot happier knowing that some snowmobile didnt kick your a$$, as opposed to the what if's.
Glad to hear that you are OK, the sled can be replaced (if you want). It seems like you learned a valuble lesson in that it is OK to have fun, but be smart about it.
you are lucky to be alive. I hope you get back on a sled and ride, just dont be an idiot and ride smart!

sorry to hear that man, thats a bummer. im 24 and i know that feeling, all too well actually. just got out of the E-R after a wicked endo this afternoon. shorted a gap jump, track caught the lip of the landing and the sled started cart wheeling end for end. like you said it felt like it was ok until i was laying there 40ft away from the jump. only damage i can see so far to the sled is a missing tail light, smashed rear bumper, tweaked bars, and possibly a steering post i havent really looked at it yet. screwed up my arm so i went and got x-rays, the doc said no breakage but i bruised the bone and tendons, hopefully i can make a fist tommorow, it sux typing with one hand! dont let it get you down man, u gotta get back up and ride again! im gunna overshoot that jump sooo bad when i get healed up!

Kudos on the manual Eject! Saved my xxx more than once.
You have been lucky enough to learn form a accident that didn't take your mobility, your life, or worse yet someone else's. You will notice that most of the responses you will get around here will not be the Alpha-Male/Weekend Warrior battle cry.
Just always be thoughtful about were to draw the line.
(Every beer over a six pack moves the line the wrong way)
