New track Fraying...

We put a new track on my buddies 99 srx 700 a few months ago, and we were riding the U.P. this last weekend, and noticed that there are few strands of material hanging off, and ice builds up on it clunking on the Tunnel, is it alright to torch the edge of the track on both sides.. to mold it and get rid of the fraying? its not severe, just ice build up occasionally.

I know we've done that....don't know if it's "ok"...but no known issues...
